For the past quarter-century, the annual March for Mount Vernon has been bringing communities together to support vital cancer research and care at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre. This year’s edition promises an engaging day filled with running events suitable for all ages. The centerpiece of the event is a 10k run that winds through the picturesque grounds of Merchant Taylors’ School, Moor Park Golf Course, and the expansive Moor Park estate. Participants will enjoy a closed-road course certified by UK Athletics (UKA) and chip-timed to ensure accurate results. The race offers runners stunning views of lush greenery, manicured gardens, and historic landmarks, making it both challenging and scenic. In addition to the 10k run, there are two other events designed for younger participants: a series of fun runs for children and a family-friendly 'March for Mount Vernon’ 5k walk. The junior fun runs cater to different age groups with distances ranging from 850 meters up to nearly four kilometers, ensuring that kids have the opportunity to enjoy running in a safe and encouraging environment. All participants who complete their chosen event will receive a finisher’s medal along with a free t-shirt while supplies last, making it an extra special day for everyone involved. The event is not only about physical accomplishment but also serves as a meaningful way to contribute to important causes by raising funds for the Lynda Jackson Macmillan Centre at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre. Join us in celebrating this milestone year and be part of a community that supports each other while making a difference in the lives of those affected by cancer.
