Since its inception in 2012, the Moor to Sea Sportive has become a beloved fixture for cyclists seeking challenging terrain and scenic routes. Originally held in October, this year’s edition moves to May, offering more favorable weather conditions. Cyclists have three route options: The Inspire (short) route is a manageable 36 miles (57 km), featuring an ascent of approximately 2,444 feet (745 meters). For those looking for a bit more challenge, the Challenge (medium) route spans 64 miles (103 km) with around 5,600 feet (1,700 meters) of climbing. The Extreme (long) route is reserved for the most daring participants who will cover an impressive 110 miles (177 km), tackling a staggering ascent of 10,000 feet (3,000 meters). This demanding course includes steep gradients up to 20%, culminating in a formidable final climb. Participants can expect to encounter the iconic Haytor Hill Climb on both the Extreme and Challenge routes. The King/Queen of the Mountains Segment Challenge adds an extra layer of competition for those aiming to showcase their climbing prowess. Medals are awarded based on finishing times, with gold, silver, and bronze accolades available to top performers. This event is tailor-made for riders who excel in 'puncheur' style courses—think Julian Alaphilippe or Philippe Gilbert at the height of his career—and offers an exhilarating mix of stunning scenery and rigorous terrain.
