Molló Trail

The Molló Trail takes place on Sunday, June 7, 2026, starting and finishing in Molló, Ripollès (Girona), Catalonia, Spain. This cross-border mountain race commemorates the path taken by many people during the exile of the Spanish Civil War (January-February 1939), following the routes of the retreat. The 2026 edition offers two distances – 25km (half marathon) and a new 11km course – both part of the Valls Catalanes Trail Running Challenge.

Event Logistics and Participant Information:

• Bib Pickup: Details to be announced on the event website.
• Aid Stations – 25km: Coll d'Ares (PK 7.9), Espinavell (PK 16), Puig Moscós (PK 20.5), and finish (PK 25.6).
• Aid Stations – 11km: Puig Moscós (PK 4.5) and finish (PK 11.8).
• Race T-Shirt: Exclusive 2026 design by TUGAWEAR. Available with registration before April 30, 2026.
• Insurance: Non-federated participants must add insurance to their registration.
• Prizes: 1st place: €300 + gift; 2nd place: €200 + gift; 3rd place: €100 + gift. Failure to attend the awards ceremony means losing the gift and prize money.

• Organizers: Ski Club Camprodon and Molló Town Council.
• Series: Part of the Valls Catalanes Trail Running Challenge (cross-border races of Northern Catalonia and Girona regions).

Route and Atmosphere:

• 25km Route: Starts in Molló and follows the Retreat Route to Coll d'Ares, passing through Riberal, Pla dels Bous, La Casilla, and Coll Prugent. From Coll d'Ares, follows the border ridge with magnificent views of Canigó and Costabona massifs. At Coll Pregon, descends to Espinavell, then returns to Molló via Els Grells and Favars hamlets.
• 11km Route: Starts in Molló and follows the path toward Setcases, partly coinciding with the GR-11 long-distance trail, ascending to Puig Moscós and Collada de Fembra Morta with splendid views of the Eastern Pyrenees.
• Historical Significance: The race commemorates the passage of thousands of people during the winter of 1939 who were forced into exile in France during the Spanish Civil War.
• Natural Setting: The course runs through the eastern part of the Ter and Freser Headwaters Natural Park, featuring mountain landscapes, forests, and border ridgelines.
• Atmosphere: A cross-border mountain race blending sporting effort with historical memory, honoring those who traversed these paths over eighty years ago.
• Spectator Experience: Friends and family can cheer at the start/finish in Molló, as well as at key points such as Coll d'Ares or Espinavell, while enjoying spectacular Pyrenean scenery.

The Molló Trail 2026 – 25km and 11km along the Republican exile paths – combines sport, historical memory, and spectacular Eastern Pyrenean landscapes from Molló to Coll d'Ares and Puig Moscós, within the Ter and Freser Headwaters Natural Park.
