The 35th annual Mohican Trail 100 Mile Run, often referred to as the MO 100, takes place on Saturday, 30 May and Sunday, 31 May 2026 at Mohican Adventures in Loudonville, Ohio. Home of the first ever USATF Ultra Running Championship in 2005, Mohican is reportedly the fifth oldest ultrarunning race in the USA and perhaps the longest continual ultrarunning race. The event offers three distances: 100 Mile, 50 Mile, and Marathon, winding through the 5,000-acre Mohican Memorial State Forest. Online registration closes on Thursday, 28 May 2026 at 9:00 PM EST (or 5:00 PM ET per the registration platform).

The Mohican 100 is a qualifying race for the Western States 100. Any runner who completes the race within the 32-hour time limit will be qualified to apply for the lottery. Additionally, Mohican serves as an UTMB Index Race, qualifying participants for UTMB World Series events, which in turn earn running stones for the UTMB finals in France.
There are no cutoff times for the Marathon or 50 Mile other than the 32-hour limit for the 100 Mile, since aid stations remain open for the 100-mile race. This means slower racers can hike the course. The 50 Mile begins at 6:00 AM (one hour after the 100 Mile) giving 31 hours to finish. The Marathon begins at 8:00 AM (three hours after the 100 Mile) giving 29 hours to finish.
Aid stations will stock Coke, Canada Dry Ginger Ale, Mountain Dew, ramen chicken noodles, vegetable broth, potato chips, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, bananas, Clementine oranges, cookies, instant coffee, iodized salt, M&Ms Plain, trail mix, honey, Hammer Heed Electrolyte, and Hammer Gels. Drop bags for 50 and 100 mile runners are accepted only at Covered Bridge (C) and Mohican Adventures (E). Each bag must have race number and aid station letter clearly marked in a manner that will not be erased by moisture (Ziploc bags recommended).
Parking is available at Mohican Adventures. Look for Race Parking signs on the river side of SR3. Additional parking is at Mohican Adventures Upper Parking Lot and Loudonville Old Wally Road. The race start/finish, packet pickup, and pavilion are all located at Mohican Adventures, opposite the campground entrance.
Additional awards: Runners who do not finish the 100 but complete at least 50 miles receive a custom Mohican 50+ Finishers Medal. Runners who complete ten Mohican 100 races earn the 1,000-Mile Ten Time Finishers Buckle. Runners who complete 20 Mohican 100 races earn the custom 2,000-Mile Twenty Time Finishers Buckle.
Refund policy: Half of the registration fee can be refunded until 10 May 2026. No refunds after 10 May. Transfer policy: Transfers can only be made online while registration is open. Deferrals: No deferrals unless the race is cancelled. Changing races: Switching to a shorter distance is allowed (no refund of difference), but must be done at packet pickup. No race day changes. No phone or email changes.
Late registration: After online registration closes, 100-mile and 50-mile racers can only register at the race on Friday, 29 May 2026. Marathon racers can register on Saturday morning, 30 May beginning at 6:00 AM. No registration for 50 or 100 mile races is available on Saturday morning. Pacers must register online for a $10 fee to account for added aid.
Volunteers are encouraged to sign up, especially those not crewing for a runner. Registered volunteers receive an official Mohican Trail 100 race t-shirt. Contact [email protected] for volunteer opportunities. A portion of race proceeds supports the North Fork Volunteer Fire Department and local community services.
Testimonials: Runners praise the breathtaking hilly course, friendly volunteers, well-stocked aid stations with healthy choices, and the sense of hiking through Ohio wilderness comparable to races out west. The event is described as wonderfully organized and enjoyable for first-time ultrarunners and veterans alike.
Course maps, GPX files (Short Loop and Long Loop), data charts with aid station mileage, crew access, elevation profiles, and aid station open/close times are available. Race results and photos from previous editions (including 2025 photos by Butch Phillips) are accessible online. The race is presented by Mohican 100 and officed at P.O. Box 97, Butler, Ohio 44822.
