Miles for Meals

Join us for an uplifting community event that combines fitness and philanthropy: the Gathering Hope Food Pantry 5K Walk/Run. This family-friendly race is designed to raise awareness and support for those in need through physical activity, music, food, and fun.
The event kicks off with a scenic 5K course that winds its way through Black Mountain's picturesque streets. Participants will enjoy views of the charming town as they walk or jog their way towards making a difference. Entry fees are reasonable, offering discounts to students and seniors:
- Students (ages 18 & under): $20 pre-registration / $25 day-of
- Adults (ages 19 - 64): $25 pre-registration / $30 day-of
- Seniors (age 65+): $20 pre-registration / $25 day-of
Pre-register by September 30, 11:59 PM to guarantee a race t-shirt. Online registration closes at 6 PM on October 17.
Following the walk/run is an engaging block party featuring live music from the Black Mountain Symphony and delicious food options provided by Babbling Brook Catering. Enjoy chicken or rib skewers for meat lovers, as well as vegan BBQ veggie skewers to cater to all dietary preferences. The event also includes a bake sale and basket raffles, providing additional opportunities to contribute.
Bring your lawn chair if you plan on staying at the block party, which offers limited seating options. Donations of non-perishable food items are encouraged to support Gathering Hope Food Pantry's mission in helping those who struggle with hunger.
Children can look forward to a Kids Zone packed with activities designed specifically for them, ensuring that everyone from toddlers to teens will find something enjoyable at this event.
