Miles at the Meadow #1

Miles at the Meadow #1 returns to The Plains, Virginia on Saturday, June 28th. This event offers a variety of distances including the 5K which counts towards our Year-Long and Spring Series point totals, providing runners with multiple opportunities for points and recognition.
The race is held in the serene setting of Maplewood Park, located at 101 Meadow Road, The Plains, Virginia. Race morning finds participants along tree-lined paths where the gentle rustle of leaves offers a peaceful backdrop to pre-race warm-ups. With typical June weather conditions, runners can expect firm and slightly soft trails underfoot, making it important to wear appropriate footwear.
In its third year, Miles at the Meadow #1 has become an integral part of The Plains community, drawing over 200 participants in previous editions. Proceeds support local schools through a scholarship fund that provides financial assistance for students pursuing athletic scholarships. The race starts from the park's main entrance at 7:00 AM, winding through a mix of wooded trails and open fields before returning for the finish line on the same path. There are no aid stations along this route.
Expect temperatures to hover around 85°F with UV index levels peaking at Very High (8.0), making it essential to apply sunscreen liberally well in advance. A light breeze can be expected, but any precipitation is unlikely given current forecasts.
The race offers a 1 Mile | 1.6K, a 10K, a 5K, and virtual options with or without medals/shirts. Registration fees are $23.55 for the 1 Mile, $34.53 for the 5K, $50.99 for the 10K, and $21.36 for the Virtual with Medal option.
