Media Maratón de Vélez y Ricaurte

The Running of the Hoya del Río Suárez brings together runners from across Colombia's border regions, uniting Vélez in Santander and Ricaurte in Boyacá. This unique race celebrates the shared geography and rich cultural heritage of these neighboring provinces. Participants will run through picturesque landscapes along the banks of the Rio Suárez, experiencing breathtaking views as they traverse the scenic zone that marks the boundary between Boyacá and Santander.
The event features two distances: a 21-kilometer half marathon and a shorter 10-kilometer route. Runners can enjoy the diverse terrain, which includes rolling hills and flat stretches along winding river paths. The race course is lined with enthusiastic locals who offer support and encouragement throughout the run.
In addition to the challenging yet rewarding course, runners will have the opportunity to explore Moniquirá in Boyacá and Barbosa in Santander. These towns boast rich cultural traditions, vibrant local cuisine, and warm hospitality that make this event a memorable experience for all participants.
