mccartney foundation 5k & 1 mile walk for the deaf at peace valley park

We are partnering with the great people of "Run The Day" race organizers to produce an exceptional and professionally orchestrated event experience for our guests. For runners, this is a timed 5K race with runners receiving a race t-shirt, event medallion, and there will also be a Medal Ceremony for the top finishers across multiple categories. For the walkers, enjoy a relaxing stroll along the beautiful Lake Galena for a great cause. In addition, we will have a race announcer, DJ/Music, professional photographer, and the "Traveling Tom Coffee Truck" will be on hand offering great beverages and morning treats. All proceeds from this event will go directly to fund our new deaf job training and employment initiatives. Approximately 55% of deaf high school graduates and deaf young adults are unable to find employment after graduation. Our partnership with the PA School for the Deaf and the Deaf Hearing Communications Centre will be focusing on creating programs that provide soft skills and job training and with partnerships form local businesses, provide internships and final job placement.
