Experience one of Italy's most spectacular non-competitive running events at the 49th Marcia delle Ville on the weekend of 25th-26th April 2026, in the Lucca countryside. This iconic 'March of the Villas' invites thousands of participants to walk or run through the private gardens of historic villas, offering a unique blend of sport, culture, and breathtaking Tuscan landscapes. Choose from five scenic distances—4km, 10km, 16km, 21km, and 28km—with staggered start times to manage the large crowds, all beginning and ending at Marlia's market square. The weekend kicks off with a vibrant sports expo on Saturday where you can collect your race bib, enjoy street food, and explore vendor stalls. On Sunday, a team of 300 dedicated volunteers ensures smooth logistics and provides refreshment stations along each beautifully curated route. Renowned for its impeccable organization and inclusive, festive atmosphere, the event regularly draws close to 20,000 participants from across Italy and beyond. Registration opens on 19th December 2025, so mark your calendar for an unforgettable spring adventure in the heart of Tuscany.

About Lucca

Lucca is a city of some 90,000 people (2017) in Lucca province of Tuscany. Its long history goes back to Etruscan and Ancient Roman times, and the city retains pieces of ancient architecture. Lucca's heyday was in the Gothic era just before the Renaissance, and the city contains much marvellous architecture from that era. Lucca remained an independent city state until the end of the 18th century. Giacomo Puccini, one of the best-known opera composers, was born in Lucca, and his house is visited by many opera-lovers every year.
