Experience the perfect fusion of ancient history and athletic endurance at the 10th Edition of Marathon Stara Zagora, returning on Sunday, March 29, 2026. Known as one of Bulgaria's most unique racing venues, Stara Zagora is built directly atop the Roman settlement of Irinopolis. Runners will compete on a course that follows the perfectly straight urban grid laid out by Roman engineers thousands of years ago, passing near preserved amphitheatres and ancient mosaics in the heart of Bulgaria's fifth-largest city.

Under the motto "Running – A Way of Life," this event serves as a premier stop in Bulgaria's national marathon series. The course is designed for accessibility and speed, featuring a start and finish line in front of the Stara Zagora Municipality (107 Tsar Simeon Veliki Blvd.). The 10.5 km loop takes runners along the wide stretches of Nikola Petkov Blvd., offering a flat and rhythmic profile with a launch altitude of 206m. Whether you are a seasoned marathoner or a weekend jogger, the event provides a professional racing environment supported by the city's rich cultural spirit and modern economic vitality.

The 2026 program offers four distinct distances to ensure every runner can find their challenge: the Classic 42.195 km Marathon, the Half Marathon (21.1 km), the 10.55 km quarter-marathon, and a 5 km community run. Every participant receives a promotional event T-shirt, and all those who cross the finish line will be awarded a commemorative medal.
