Marathon Mont-Mégantic

About the Event

From the forest floor to the observatory summits — the only trail marathon in Quebec's Eastern Townships, and the only trail race in the Granit region. Marathon Mont‑Mégantic returns to Parc National du Mont‑Mégantic on Sunday, June 14, 2026. Four distances: 42 km solo or relay, 15 km, 7 km, and a children's Star Race. The course stays entirely within a dark‑sky preserve, where runners share the trails with moose, songbirds, and ancient forests.

Solo Marathon (42 km)
1,909 m elevation gain • 6:30 AM start • Challenging, technical sections

Relay Marathon (2 x 21 km)
First runner starts at Franceville sector • Second runner starts from Observatory sector (self‑transport required)

Classic Franceville (15 km)
7:15 AM start • Rolling routes, river views

Pain de Sucre (7 km)
8:00 AM start • Shorter adventure for intermediate runners

Star Race (children)
11:00 AM start • Free participation • School with highest participation receives a scholarship

Race Without a Trace:

The event takes place inside Parc National du Mont‑Mégantic, a protected area managed by SÉPAQ. No waste tolerated on course outside designated zones. Leave only footprints.
All proceeds donated to La Bouée de Lac‑Mégantic — a local organization helping women victims of domestic violence and their children.
The park is home to fragile plant and animal species. Organizers count on full participant collaboration to guarantee the event's sustainability.

Logistics & Course Notes:

All starts are at the Franceville sector (520 Franceville Road), except the second relay leg which starts at the Observatory sector.
Limited parking at departure site — more information to come.
Multiple aid stations on each distance: water, sports drink, and food provided. Runners remain responsible for their own personal nutrition.
Scholarships awarded to solo marathon winners (men and women). Participation prizes for other categories.
Accommodation info available on event website. Get involved as a volunteer.
Results and participant lists available online after race.

Hampden is a town in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. The town has a population of 429. Two islands can be seen from the shore of Hampden, Granby Island and Millers Island. The latter is much closer to the town and is the host of a tuberculosis grave-site.
