Many Lite

The Many Lite race returns to Castile, New York on October 18th, offering runners a unique journey through the scenic beauty of Letchworth State Park. This event is organized by TrailsRoc and Rochester Running Company in collaboration with each other for an unforgettable experience along some of the most picturesque trails in North America.
On race morning at dawn, participants will gather to start their 20-mile trek or run amidst crisp fall weather conditions typical for this time of year in New York. The temperature usually ranges between 6.7°C and 15.4°C with an average wind speed around 12.5 kilometers per hour coming from the north-northeast direction, providing a cool yet manageable atmosphere for runners to enjoy the stunning views while navigating through Letchworth State Park's rugged terrain.
Over the years, Many Lite has become a beloved tradition among trail enthusiasts and nature lovers alike in western New York. With limited spots available—200 runners and 100 hikers—the event attracts participants from across various regions who come together to support local initiatives such as scholarships for underprivileged youth within Castile schools.
The course of the Many Lite race takes competitors through diverse landscapes including dense forests, rocky cliffs towering up to 600 feet high, and three major waterfalls along the Genesee River. Participants will traverse firm yet slightly soft trails that wind around breathtaking overlooks offering panoramic views of fall foliage during peak season in October.
As runners cross the start line on Portageville Road near Letchworth State Park’s entrance, they embark on a challenging but rewarding journey with no aid stations along the way due to its remote location. The terrain features significant elevation changes and technical sections that test both endurance and agility as one moves from forested areas into open stretches overlooking dramatic canyons.
During October in Castile, weather conditions tend towards moderate temperatures averaging around 11°C, feeling slightly cooler at night with an average humidity of about 74% adding moisture to the air. The risk for precipitation is relatively low at only 2.3mm expected throughout race day though runners should prepare for potential showers.
