Course Description

Unlike any other race in the area, this race will feature the iconic Lookout Mountain climb in Montreat and combines fast road racing with technical trail running. The course is an out and back from Lookout Brewing Company in Black Mountain to the Lookout trailhead. From there, runners will follow an epic trail route up and over Lookout Mountain that will challenge even the most seasoned trail runners. After completing the trail loop, runners will speed back to the Finish at Lookout! Aid will be available at the Lookout Trailhead, at approximately mile 3 and mile 8. There will be water, snacks, cold beer and a food truck at the finish! Awards

New for this year!!!! Awesome hoodies, and a beer token (21+) for all participants. Special awards for top male and female finishers will be provided by Mountain Running Company and Lookout Brewing Company!

Parking

There will be NO parking for this event at Lookout Brewing. There are several free public parking lots in downtown Black Mountain within 2-3 blocks of the venue, as well as available parking behind Black Mountain Primary School. The parking lot at Lookout will be used as a Start/Finish area, so there needs to be space for a timing tent, food truck, and finishers having beers.

Refund Policy

There will be no transfer of entry fees or refunds given after January 1, 2027. After that time, the Luis Escobar refund policy will be in place. He says it best: “Finally – please remember that there will be NO refunds – NO transfers – NO exceptions. Do not ask for a refund or a transfer to another date or event – the answer is a polite, no. There will be no refunds even if your cat ate your homework or your dog ate your cat or your grandmother ran over your dog or your grandfather ran over your grandmother or you can’t find a babysitter or your girlfriend is cheating on you or you are cheating on your girlfriend or you get shot in the head during an unfortunate piñata incident, of if you become injured or if you don’t have time to train or if you contract poison oak, syphilis, herpes simplex, chapped lips, the heart break of psoriasis or any other communicable decease or you get bit by a lizard, you have a hangover or you got shot in the neck with a poison dart or your trailer gets destroyed by a tornado or you get deported or your daughter gets married, or any other reason – your registration will not, under any circumstances, no way, no how, ain’t gonna happen, be refunded.
