Lone Star Night Run

Nestled in the serene foothills of North Texas, the Lone Star Night Run offers runners and ruckers an enchanting evening adventure on Lake Mineral Wells State Park's Trailway. This scenic course features soft fine gravel trails that wind through the picturesque Lost Creek Reservoir State Trailway, providing a tranquil backdrop for both casual joggers and seasoned athletes.
The event is set to take place in September when temperatures hover between 75-85 degrees Fahrenheit, making it an ideal evening run under clear starlit skies. Participants can choose from three distances: a 5K, a challenging half marathon (13.1 miles), or the less common but equally thrilling 10K RUCK event.
The race follows an out-and-back course that begins and ends at the Weatherford Trailhead. The terrain is relatively flat with gentle inclines on the outbound leg and a slight downhill toward the finish line, offering runners a unique challenge as they navigate under moonlit skies.
For those who prefer to tackle their route in darkness, headlamps are required for all participants due to the course's evening start time of 8:30 PM. The race day experience is enhanced by complimentary aid stations along the way, providing water refills and essential hydration options throughout your run or ruck adventure.
To ensure a smooth event for everyone involved, volunteers play an integral role in making this night out memorable. Overflow parking will be available at Cartwright Park soccer fields via shuttle service to accommodate all runners starting from 6:30 PM on the day of the race.
In addition to the Lone Star Night Run itself, participants can take part in the Texas Summer Night Series, which includes seven races across different locations within Texas over several months.
