About the Event

The Little Souls 2026 Kids Marathon is a unique youth fitness event scheduled for Wednesday, May 27, 2026, in Lethbridge, Alberta. Designed to encourage long-term physical activity, the program allows children to complete a full marathon distance incrementally. Participants run 40.2 km in the weeks leading up to the event, using provided log sheets to track their progress, and finish their final 2 km together on race day at Chinook High School.

Event Logistics and Participant Information:

-- Eligibility and Limits: Participation is limited to 600 children, and runners must be 12 years of age or younger on race day. As of late April, there are approximately 213 spots remaining.
-- Shirt Guarantee: While registration is open until May 27, only those registered by May 19 are guaranteed a cotton t-shirt in their preferred size.
-- Race Package Pick-up: Packages can be collected between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM at Runner's Soul (2646 South Parkside Dr.). Late pickup is available at the school from 5:30 PM to 6:20 PM.
-- Course Safety: To ensure the safety of the runners, parents and guardians are not permitted on the course during the 2 km finish. Staggered age-group starts help manage the flow of participants.
-- Post-Race Celebration: Every finisher receives a marathon medal and a post-race hamburger. Spectators and family members can purchase additional burgers on-site for $3.00.

Preparation and Support:

-- Training: Log sheets are provided digitally for families to print and use as the children accumulate their initial 40.2 km.
-- Parking: Ample parking is provided at Chinook High School for parents, grandparents, and supporters attending the 6:30 PM start.
-- Policies: The event operates with a strict no-refund policy for all registrations.
-- Timing and Results: Although focused on participation and fitness, final celebratory results for the participants are posted on the official event portal following the race.
