Lions 5K

The Lions 5K takes place on Sunday, 31 May 2026 at 9:00 AM EDT at 140 Brandeis Road, Newton, Massachusetts. This annual event is organized by the Newton South Booster Club to support athletics and school spirit at Newton South High School. The race is open to the public and runs through the streets surrounding the high school. Participants can run as individuals or as part of a team (a South team or one you create). Prizes are awarded in many categories, including Best Lion‑themed costume.

Course description:

• Start at Newton South High School adjacent to the preschool playground.
• Follow the Brandeis field access road and turn right onto Brandeis Road.
• Left onto Greenwood, right onto Dudley, up a short steep hill, then right onto Drumlin Road.
• Downhill and right onto Hartman Road, cross Greenwood Street, left onto Meadowbrook.
• Right onto Country Club Road, right onto Arnold Road, right again at Sharpe Road, left onto Wheeler Road.
• At the end of Wheeler, right onto Parker Street, right again onto Roosevelt, then left back onto Brandeis.
• Finish: right into the high school’s main parking lot, proceed to Winkler Stadium, enter the track for a counter‑clockwise lap, and finish at the track finish line.
