Lichfield 10K & Fun Run

Lichfield's Beacon Park will host the Lichfield 10k and Family Fun Run on September 13, 2026, offering runners of all levels an engaging day out. The events start at 9:30 AM for the family-friendly run and 10:30 AM for the more challenging 10k race.
The Lichfield 10k is a scenic journey through rural lanes certified by UK Athletics (UKA), ensuring accuracy and fairness in timing. Runners will enjoy wide, flat stretches at the beginning of the course before entering winding country roads that lead to Chorley village. This section includes five challenging hills, followed by an exhilarating downhill finish back into Beacon Park.
The race is well-supported with marshals cheering on participants throughout their journey and pacers available every 5 minutes starting from 40-minute intervals up until the 70-minute mark. A comprehensive medical team provided by St John Ambulance ensures safety for all competitors, while chip timing guarantees precise results texted directly to runners after they cross the finish line.
Competitors can look forward to cash prizes awarded to both men and women in first place along with course records broken during the race. The event also emphasizes environmental responsibility through wooden medals given to each participant and T-shirts made from recycled plastic available for purchase at a dedicated shop on-site.
For those attending as spectators, there will be ample opportunities to cheer runners on near Beacon Park and around Chorley village where many of them are expected to gather during the race. The event’s proceeds benefit Lichfield Running Club and local charities, adding an extra layer of community spirit to this running day.
On a separate note, the Family Fun Run offers families with children under nine years old (accompanied by an adult) the chance to participate in a 2km route within Beacon Park's boundaries. This run includes comprehensive marshalling for safety and features its own dedicated start and finish line complete with an inflatable arch and timing clock. Participants will also receive cash prizes, water stations at both ends of their course, bananas, and sweets.
The race day atmosphere is lively, with a pre-race village setup in Beacon Park providing all necessary amenities for runners to prepare and socialize before the event kicks off.
