Letchworth 5K: A Scenic Run Through Letchworth Garden City

Organized by Love Letchworth in collaboration with North Herts Road Runners, the Letchworth 5K promises an engaging day of racing through the charming town centre. Participants will gather at Leys Square, SG6 3EW, where both races and the fun run start and finish.

Green Initiatives
Love Letchworth is committed to minimizing the environmental impact of this event. Compostable and reusable cups will be used throughout the day, paper and cardboard recycling bins are provided, race numbers can be reused, and sustainable medals are distributed.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own water bottles, take home any litter they generate, especially gel wrappers, and refrain from dropping waste along the course.
Parking & Transportation
To reduce traffic congestion in town, we recommend walking or cycling. Secure cycle racks are available around Leys Square. Free car parking is offered at Arena Parade, The Wynd Rowland Way, and Rowland Way multi-storey parkings.
Facilities
Public toilets are readily accessible throughout Letchworth Garden City’s town centre. Local coffee shops also provide restroom facilities for runners.
Medical & Safety Information
Ensure you're in good health before participating; it's unwise to run if injured or ill. Write any allergies or medical conditions on the back of your race number in waterproof ink. First aid trained marshals will be present at all times during the event.
Pre- and post-race refreshments are provided near Leys Square, complemented by numerous coffee shops and restaurants open for the day’s festivities.
Race Course
The Letchworth 5K course is entirely on tarmac or solid blocks. Runners should wear their race numbers visibly at all times during the event. Headphones are discouraged to ensure safety as runners need to hear instructions from marshals.
For children under 11, an adult must accompany them throughout the run. The route accommodates wheelchair and pushchair users comfortably. Dogs can join but must start at the back of the race and remain on short leads during the event.
Awards
All participants receive commemorative medals upon finishing their respective races or fun runs. In addition to these, top finishers in each gender category (1st through 3rd place) as well as age categories V40, V50, V60 & V70 will be awarded prizes provided by local businesses.
The prize ceremony takes place immediately after both the 5K and 1 Mile race finishes. Note that prizes are given based on gun time rather than chip timing.
