The Médiévales de Vitré 2026 is a unique urban night trail organized as part of the Festival Sportiviales et Compagnie, scheduled for Friday, April 24, 2026. Known for its atmospheric and historic course, the race winds through the medieval heart of Vitré, a town in Brittany, France. Participants gain exclusive access to hidden passages and segments along the castle's fortified ramparts that are typically closed to the public, incorporating stairs and steep inclines into the route.

Race Experience and Logistics
A defining feature of the 12 km main event is its night finish, which requires all runners to carry a headlamp. New for the 2026 edition, organizers have added free childcare (garderie) and locker services (vestiaire) to support local families and commuting runners. Bib collection takes place at the Place du Château starting at 4:00 PM. Following the race, the "medieval" hospitality includes a traditional "galette saucisse" and a drink (beer or soft drink) for every finisher, culminating in a free public concert at the castle square at 10:00 PM.
Registration and Bib Exchange
As of late March 2026, both the 6 km and 12 km adult races are sold out. However, the organizers have opened an official bib exchange (bourse aux dossards) via the Klikego platform, allowing runners who missed out to legally purchase bibs from registered participants who can no longer attend. Online payment remains mandatory for any official transfers to ensure the security of the registration data.
Regional and Demographic Context
Vitré (35500) is a historical gateway to Brittany, with a population of approximately 19,000 residents. The demographic profile is roughly 94.2% French-born, with a local economy that is exceptionally resilient, boasting one of the lowest unemployment rates in France (around 5%). The median household income in the region is approximately €24,500. The town’s medieval heritage—including its 11th-century castle—is a central pillar of its cultural identity, and events like the Sportiviales are key to promoting "sport-heritage" tourism, drawing runners from across the Ille-et-Vilaine department and neighboring regions.
