Leopold’s Preserve 5k & 10k

The Leopold’s Preserve 5k & 10k returns to Broad Run, Virginia on August 23rd, 2026, in conjunction with the Sippin Series event at the Farm Brewery! Walkers are welcome. The race offers a challenging yet rewarding course through the scenic trails of Leopold's Preserve.
Race morning finds participants gathering under clear blue skies and mild temperatures around 19 to 29 degrees Celsius. A light breeze keeps things comfortable, but be prepared for higher UV levels which can peak at index 7.0 during high noon. The setting is idyllic; the park’s lush greenery provides a serene backdrop as runners navigate through varied terrain.
This event marks its third year in Broad Run and has grown to include over 350 participants annually, raising funds for local scholarships. Every year brings new experiences and connections among community members who gather here not just for exercise but also to support their fellow residents' education goals.
The course begins at the Leopold’s Preserve entrance on Main Street, running through the park's well-maintained hard and dry surface. For 5K runners, you'll cover a distance of roughly five kilometers along winding paths that offer scenic views every step of the way. The 10k route doubles this mileage with more twists and turns.
Start times are staggered for both distances to ensure smooth transitions; there will be aid stations at key points where water is available. At the conclusion, you'll find yourself back on Main Street near the park’s entrance.
