Date: September 26, 2026 Time: 7:00 AM Location: 675 Pisgah Rd. Eads, TN (private land). You will enter a white gravel road between white picket fences and drive through an open gate. We will have a 10' Mamba Trail Runners flag at the entrance of the gate.

Last Mamba Standing is listed on the official Backyard Ultra International Calendar (Big’s Backyard Ultra), placing it among recognized Backyard Ultra events worldwide and bringing the format to the Mid-South region.

Official Rules

Last Mamba Standing will follow the official Backyard Ultra rules. A Backyard Ultra is different from almost every other running event. You are not racing a set distance, and you are not racing against a set finishing time. The goal is simple: keep completing yards until you can’t anymore. Every runner will start together and complete a 4.167-mile (6.7056 km) yard every hour, on the hour. Finish in 35 minutes? You have 25 minutes to recover. Finish in 59 minutes? You have one minute. Either way, when the bell rings for the next yard, you must be back in the starting corral and ready to go. There is only ONE winner at Last Mamba Standing — the final runner who successfully completes one more yard than everyone else. But Backyard Ultras are about much more than one winner. The format creates a unique team atmosphere where runners push one another farther than they may have ever thought possible. Every runner who steps into that starting corral plays a role in how far this race ultimately goes. OFFICIAL RULES THE COURSE • Each yard is exactly 4 miles, 880 feet (4.167 miles / 6.7056 km). • The race is completely open-ended. There is no predetermined finishing distance or time. THE STARTING CORRAL • Runners must be inside the starting corral when the bell rings. • The starting corral remains the same size throughout the event. THE BELL • A warning will be given at 3 minutes, 2 minutes, and 1 minute before each start. • Every new yard begins exactly one hour after the previous yard began. • When the starting bell rings, everyone starts together. • No late starts. DURING EACH YARD • Every yard must be completed in less than one hour to count. • Except for restroom breaks, runners cannot leave the course until completing the yard. • No personal aid is allowed while on the course during a yard. • No non-competitors may accompany runners on the course, including runners who have already been eliminated. • No artificial aids, including trekking poles. • Slower runners must allow faster runners to pass. THE FINISH The race continues hour after hour, yard after yard, until only one runner remains. The winner must complete one more full yard than every other runner. All other runners are officially recorded as DNF, with their total number of completed yards and distance recorded. If the final remaining runner cannot complete one additional yard, there is no winner. There is no race cap. No predetermined finish. We keep ringing the bell until only one Mamba is left standing.

Primitive Camping

Camp with us on Friday night, September 25th and wake up already at the start/finish line. We’ll have primitive camping spots available right by the start line, near the lake, or wherever you’d like to set up. We’ll provide porta potties and hand-washing stations. Please plan to bring your own food, water, and all camping supplies. Both camping tents and 10×10 canopy tents are welcome. Friday night will feature a big fire, music, and a laid-back hangout around the barn as we talk about the race ahead. This is a great opportunity to camp alongside both local runners and out-of-town athletes, swap stories, meet new people, and build friendships before toeing the line the next morning. Make it a full weekend experience—not just a race.

Aid Station Information

There will be no traditional aid stations on the course or at the Start/Finish line. We will provide water, Tailwind, and basic trail snacks, like cookies, crackers, etc. Runners are responsible for bringing any additional nutrition, gear, or supplies they may need during the race.

Awards / Swag

There can only be one finisher — and only one award. This race is not split by male or female. When it comes to Last Mamba Standing, everyone lines up together, and only the final runner standing earns the top honor. -Last Mamba Standing Champion Award The Last Mamba Standing Top Award will be the most epic, custom award we’ve ever created in the history of Mamba Trail Runners. This is a true centerpiece award—designed to sit proudly on a mantle or shelf and represent grit, endurance, and survival. One winner. One award. No exceptions. -Finisher Medal All other runners who complete at least one lap will receive an official Last Mamba Standing medal. -Race Shirt Every registered runner will receive a Last Mamba Standing t-shirt. This race is simple, brutal, and pure. Outlast everyone… or take home the medal and the memories.

No Refunds / Deferrals

There are no refunds and no deferrals for this event. Once you sign up, you are officially entered into the race, whether you show up or not. Please check your calendar carefully before registering to ensure you can attend. By completing your registration, you acknowledge and agree to this policy.
