THE KLICKITAT TRAIL RUN

The Columbia Gorge Running Club along with support from the Klickitat School District are excited to bring back the Klickitat half-marathon run & 5k run/walk. This is a non-profit fundraising event benefiting the Klickitat School District and community center. This event will be held at Klickitat Youth Center, 92 Main Street, Klickitat, WA 98628. Due to the complexity in fund distribution and being a fundraiser, THERE WILL BE NO REFUNDS. We will offer rollovers to next year's event, in the case of unexpected circumstances.

VOLUNTEERS

This non-profit event relies heavily on volunteers. If you have time to contribute, please click on the link on the registration page to sign up for a volunteer position that suits you best. Thank you for all you do. Events like these cannot happen without volunteers like you.

EVENT REGISTRATION

This year's registration on ULTRA SIGNUP opens on May 15, 2026, and closes Monday, October 31, 2026, register before October 10 to avoid fee increase. Sign up today https://runsignup.com/MemberOrg/ColumbiaGorgeRunningClub/Info Registration for the 5k, participants 12 years old and younger, are FREE (5k run/walk only) Check-in begins at 7:45am and will end at 8:30am (for the half-marathon and 10:00am for the 5k) at the Jerry Lynch Community Center formally known as Klickitat Youth Center located at 92 Main Street - Klickitat WA 98602 Park your car at the Youth Center parking lot - overflow parking available at the Klickitat school across the street. This year's race packet will include a reusable stuff sack/drop bag that can be used to store warm clothing brought to the start of the run.

SHUTTLE BUSES

Shuttle buses will be located in front of Youth Center in Klickitat locate at 92 Main Street (13 miles north of Lyle trail head) and depart from the center to start locations - Half-marathon buses depart at 8:45am. Departure for the 5k from the community center is 10:15am. Buses depart at exactly 8:45am and 10:15am. PLEASE ALLOW ADEQUATE TIME TO ARRIVE AT THE COMMUNITY CENTER, APPROX 30-45 MINS PRIOR TO BUS DEPARTURE. If you miss the bus, you are responsible for getting yourself to the run start at either Pitt Trail (mile post 10 for 5k) or Lyle (mile post 0 for half-marathon).

HALF MARATHON

SHUTTLE BUS DEPARTS from the Youth Center at 92 Main Street in Klickitat at EXACTLY 8:45am and drops off at start location in Lyle WA. This is a point-to-point course starting on mile marker "0". START TIME in Lyle is 9:30am. Again, the shuttle to trailhead leaves from the community center in Klickitat at 8:45am sharp. Please allow ample time to drive to the community center that is approximately 25-30 minutes (13 miles) from Lyle and an additional 30-45 minutes for sign-up or same day registration. If you miss the shuttle bus, you are responsible for transportation to the run start. This is a medium technical Trail (due to rocky areas) - slow-grade Incline of 500' over the full course. There are 2 aid stations on this course at or near miles 6* & 10*. Porta potties are at start location as well as mile 10. This trail is an incredible scenic path that follows along the beautiful Klickitat River. There are areas that are rocky as well as areas where you can pick up speed. This path is well marked and mile posts along the way. This course is both for runners and walkers. First-aid responders will also be located at 10 mile aid station. The finish-line is located in front of the Youth Center - Online registration open through midnight Monday October 31, 2026. TO BETTER PREPARE FOR TRANSPORTATION TO THE STARTING LINES, THERE WILL BE NO DAY OF REGISTRATION THIS YEAR. Make sure to bring warm clothes (Drop bags will be brought back to the community center). The wait at the start is approx 30 minutes due to buses needing to be back in time to transport the 5k participants. Optionally there is the Confluence Cafe across the street from the start that is open early to offer an assortment of delicious warm beverages for purchase along with a warm and scenic space. IMPORTANT Participants should be able to maintain a 16-minute-per-mile pace. Those falling behind may be asked to turn back for safety and volunteer coverage. Cut off at mile 10 is 12:15pm. Finish cut off is 1:30pm. We strongly encourage anyone expecting to take longer than 3.75 hours to join us for the shorter distance.

5K

This is a medium technical course for walkers and runners - Shuttle busses depart the Youth Center at 92 Main Street in Klickitat at 10:15am and arrive at start location (Pitt Trailhead, mile post 10). RACE START TIME is 10:30am. Again, the shuttle to trailhead leaves from the community center in Klickitat at 10:15am sharp. Please allow ample time to drive to the community center that is approximately 25-30 minutes (13 miles) from Lyle and an additional 30-45 minutes for sign-up or same day registration. If you miss the shuttle bus you will be responsible for your own transportation to the run/walk start. There will be a porta potty on location. This course runs along the beautiful Klickitat Trail. The finish-line is located in front of the Youth Center. It has rocky areas as well as smooth flat and fast surfaces. The 5k distance is free for kids 12 years old and younger. Registration for adults and children 13 years old and older is open through midnight Monday October 31, 2026. TO BETTER PREPARE FOR TRANSPORTATION TO THE STARTING LINES, THERE WILL BE NO DAY OF REGISTRATION THIS YEAR.

CUT OFF TIMES

Participants should be able to maintain a 16-minute-per-mile pace. Those falling behind may be asked to turn back for safety and volunteer coverage. There will be a sweeper following the final participant/s. Cut off at mile post 10 for half-marathon walkers/runners is 12:15pm Cutt off at finish is 1:30pm We strongly encourage anyone expecting to take longer than 3.75 hours to join us for the shorter distance.

DROP BOX

All participants will be given a reusable stuff sack/drop bag with your name and race number attached. You will be able to put your bag into the race director's vehicle in Lyle at the half-marathon start location and at the 5k start. All items will be brought back to the community center and placed in the room behind the check-in tables. You are responsible for picking up your things at the community center after the event.
