On September 20, 2026, the first edition of the Kids Bike Experience Haarlemmermeer will take place at cycling club HSC De Bataaf. This free and fun-filled event is designed to introduce children to the world of cycling in an engaging and enjoyable way. The day kicks off with registration opening at 1:00 PM, followed by a series of races and activities tailored for different age groups. Children aged nine to twelve can participate in the Dikke Banden Race from 2:00 PM onwards, complete with motards and ploegleiders wagons providing support along the route. For younger kids between seven and eight years old, there's another race starting at 2:30 PM. Families are invited to join a one-kilometer Family Run beginning at 3:00 PM, offering an opportunity for parents and children of all ages to enjoy some exercise together. Younger participants can look forward to the Steprace from 3:15 PM onwards, which caters specifically to kids aged six to eight years old in the first session and three to five years old later on. The event also includes a special race for loopfiets riders at 4:00 PM. Throughout the day, there are numerous activities designed to keep everyone entertained, such as BMX demonstrations from 1:00 PM until late afternoon, pumptrack sessions available all day long, and skate areas where children can explore different types of wheels. For those interested in mountain biking, a dedicated MTB parcours is open from 1:00 PM to 3:59 PM. The Cycle Fun Experience offers an array of activities like Slowbiking, funbiking, bandenklap races, and bike quizzes until 4:00 PM. Another highlight includes the BikeFlip fietscheck & kids activiteiten where children can have their bikes checked for safety while participating in various cycling-related games. Additionally, there's a Duo Race on rollers from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM, encouraging teamwork and skill development among participants. Visitors will also find plenty of refreshments at the Bataaf bar with its terrace offering pannekoeken (Dutch pancakes), veggie or meat hamburgers, tosti’s, coffee, and more. For those looking for a bit more exercise, spinning clinics are available from 1:30 PM and 2:00 PM, catering specifically to adults over fourteen years old. The day concludes with live music performances starting at 4:30 PM until the evening hours, providing a festive atmosphere as families gather to celebrate their love for cycling. With so many activities tailored to different age groups and interests, this event promises an unforgettable experience for all who attend.
