Kawartha Lakes Winter Festival

Immerse yourself in the winter wonderland of Fenelon Falls, Ontario for the second annual Kawartha Lakes Winter Festival. Held on January 29, 2027, this festive weekend offers both competitive and casual runners a chance to explore Eganridge Resort's scenic trails under a blanket of snow. The highlight is the Canadian Open Snowshoe Running Championship with distances ranging from a family-friendly 1k run/walk to more challenging 5k and 10k loops through the groomed resort golf course.
Participants can choose between traditional snowshoes or trail shoes for their race, making it accessible for all levels of experience. The event includes athlete familiarization training on January 30th from 9 am to noon, ensuring everyone feels prepared before hitting the trails on Sunday morning at 10 am sharp. Following the races, a gourmet meal and awards ceremony will celebrate the achievements in the resort's main lodge.
For those looking for more than just running, there are family-friendly activities planned throughout the weekend including tobogganing, snowmobile rides, bonfire roasting marshmallows, and live music performances on January 31st from 2 to 4 pm. These events offer a chance to enjoy winter's delights in a festive atmosphere.
Registration includes access to all races and meals with limited rental options for snowshoes available at package pick-up before the event begins. Don't miss this unique opportunity to embrace winter sports while supporting local community initiatives like the Boys & Girls Club of Kawartha Lakes through your participation fees.
