Kuranda to Port Douglas (K2PD) 2026 promises an unforgettable journey through one of Australia’s most stunning landscapes, set within the World Heritage-listed Wet Tropics region. This challenging yet rewarding race spans a distance of 64 kilometers and offers runners two options: a solo run or a team relay event.
The K2PD begins in Kuranda, nestled among lush rainforests that are home to unique wildlife such as the majestic southern cassowary. The route follows Black Mountain Road through diverse ecosystems including dense native forests, open eucalyptus woodlands, and pine plantations. Runners will cross picturesque creeks before reaching their final destination: Four Mile Beach in Port Douglas.
This race is not just a test of physical endurance but also an immersive experience that connects participants with the natural beauty of North Queensland’s tropical rainforest. The terrain varies from undulating trails to steep climbs, providing both scenic and challenging sections throughout the course.
For those choosing the team relay option, coordination and strategic planning are key as teams can consist of two to four members sharing the 64km distance among themselves. Each participant must register individually for their respective leg(s) with payment required per leg rather than per person.
Registration for both solo runners and relay teams closes on specific dates: July 31st, 2026 at 11:59 PM for SOLO entries and August 21st, 2026 at the same time for Team registrations. No late entries will be accepted to ensure a smooth race day experience.
