Juneteenth Menare Foundation 6k & 12k

Button Farm. Schaeffer Farm Trails. Germantown, Maryland. The Juneteenth Menare Foundation 6k & 12k takes place on Friday, June 19, 2026, starting at 16820 Black Rock Rd. A challenging, hilly, scenic trail run celebrating Juneteenth — the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the end of slavery in the United States. Walkers are welcome. Virtual option available with medal and/or shirt.

Location — Button Farm & Schaeffer Farm Trails:

• Button Farm is a 40‑acre living history center in Germantown, Maryland, depicting 19th‑century farm life and the Underground Railroad
• Schaeffer Farm Trails are part of Montgomery County's extensive trail system — rolling hills, wooded singletrack, and open fields
• Course is challenging — expect hills, roots, rocks, and beautiful forest scenery
• Start/finish at 16820 Black Rock Rd, Germantown, MD

Juneteenth Celebration:

• June 19, 1865 — Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, to enforce the Emancipation Proclamation, freeing the last enslaved people in the Confederacy
• Juneteenth became a federal holiday on June 17, 2021
• Menare Foundation is dedicated to preserving and promoting the history of the Underground Railroad and African American heritage
• This race celebrates freedom, resilience, and community — on the actual Juneteenth holiday
