Ikaawa Challenge Ride 2026 (チャレンジライドにいかわ2026)

Join the 14th edition of this celebrated cycling event, which marks its 16-year anniversary. This year's race invites participants to explore the scenic landscapes of Toyama Prefecture as part of the Tateyama Kurobe Geopark.
The event features a lineup of special guests including Yasuda Daisuke from Aya no Oukase and Atsushi Anego, a smart coaching expert, who will be riding alongside cyclists. The route covers three cities and three towns in the scenic Niyari region located in eastern Toyama Prefecture, offering riders a unique blend of coastal views and mountain vistas.
Cyclists can choose from five different courses tailored to various skill levels:
- 60km Course: Ideal for families with young children as well as seniors, this course offers an accessible route that showcases the natural beauty of the region.

- 80km Course: Suitable for beginners who are comfortable riding at a pace faster than typical family outings. This route follows the Black River and provides scenic views along its banks.
- 115km Course: A more challenging option, this course takes riders from the coastal areas near Fish Town to mountainous terrain around Onatame and Asahi towns. With several shortcuts available, participants can adjust their pace based on energy levels.

- 145km Course: This extended route includes climbs in Higashi Fujo Park as it stretches through Kurobe City towards Shikaku City.
- 180km Course: Known for its steep inclines and challenging terrain, this course winds around the mountainous areas of Tateyama Kurobe Geopark. Cyclists will experience dramatic elevation changes while enjoying breathtaking views throughout their ride.
Participants can expect to cycle through picturesque locations such as Onatame Hot Springs Valley and Hisui Coast in Asahi Town. The goal is for riders to explore and appreciate the natural beauty and unique geological features of this designated geopark area, making it a memorable experience for all who participate.
This event aims to provide cyclists with an opportunity to challenge themselves on new distances or simply enjoy the stunning scenery at their own pace as they bring the year to a close.
