On October 8, 2026, Huskisson Public School invites young cyclists to participate in its School Holiday Program designed specifically for children aged 8-12 years old. The program offers two sessions tailored to different levels of cycling experience.
The Free Beginner Bike Skills Session is aimed at kids who are already comfortable riding on their own but wish to enhance their confidence and core skills under the guidance of experienced coaches. This session takes place from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM, providing an hour and a half for participants to learn essential techniques in a supportive environment.
For those looking to take their cycling abilities further, the Free Advanced Bike Skills Session is scheduled from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM. This session targets confident young riders who are ready to refine control skills and tackle more advanced riding techniques. Coaches will be on hand to ensure that participants receive personalized attention and guidance.
Both sessions take place at the school's basketball courts, located in Huskisson Public School (Sydney St). Participants must bring their own bike, helmet, water bottle, comfortable clothing, and closed-toe shoes for safety reasons. The program is weather-dependent; light rain will not cancel events, but severe conditions may lead to cancellation notices.
The NSW Government’s Get Kids Active initiative supports these sessions, aiming to empower children with the confidence and skills needed to ride safely while encouraging more families to walk or cycle to school. AusBike delivers this program in collaboration with local schools like Huskisson Public School.
