The Horsted Keynes Fun Run returns this September to celebrate community spirit and athletic camaraderie. Set for Saturday, 19th September at 9:00 AM at the Recreation Ground Field, runners of all ages are invited to participate in a day filled with scenic routes, family activities, and spirited competition. Registration opens promptly at 9:00 AM, giving participants time to warm up before taking off on their chosen distance. The event kicks off with an engaging family warm-up session starting at 9:30 AM, followed by the grand start of the 8K race at 9:40 AM. A minute later, runners tackling the shorter distances—5K and 2.5K—will set out from the same spot. The event promises a mix of scenic trails that wind through picturesque countryside paths, bridleways, and footpaths. Participants will enjoy stunning views as they navigate varied terrain, with each route offering unique challenges and breathtaking scenery. The shorter distances are designed for younger runners or those looking to ease into longer events, while the 8K option provides a more rigorous course suitable for experienced athletes. Upon finishing their run, participants can gather at the Recreation Ground Field where refreshments such as coffee and pastries will be available along with face painting stations that cater specifically to young children. Spectators are also encouraged to join in on the festivities and cheer runners across the finish line. In addition to a memorable running experience, prizes await top performers and those who stand out for their creativity in costumes or themed outfits. The first three places in each category will receive awards, while the best-dressed runner will be recognized with an extra special prize. All proceeds from this year’s Horsted Keynes Fun Run are being split 50/50 between two worthy causes: the FOSG PTA and Rocking Horse Children's Charity. These organizations rely on such events to continue their vital work within the community, making your participation not just a personal achievement but also a contribution towards supporting local initiatives. Before you lace up your running shoes, ensure that you have chosen an appropriate distance based on your fitness level and experience. Wear suitable footwear for navigating uneven terrain and bring water if necessary, especially during warmer weather conditions. It’s important to double-check emergency contact details before the event begins and inform organizers of any changes in plans. During the race, adhere strictly to marshal instructions and stay on marked routes at all times. Extra caution is advised when crossing roads or encountering other path users like walkers, horse riders, cyclists, and residents. Participants are responsible for their own timing as this year’s run will not be chip-timed. In case of any injuries or health issues during the event, stop to assist if it's safe to do so and inform a marshal immediately. For emergencies, dial 999 first before notifying an organizer or marshal. A qualified first aider will be present on-site but response time may vary depending on the location of the incident. Join us for what promises to be an uplifting day of running, fun activities, community spirit, and charitable contributions at this year’s Horsted Keynes Fun Run!
