Hoosic River Run: Half Marathon, 5K & 1-Mile Walk

The Hoosic River Run returns on September 19th, offering runners an unforgettable journey through the picturesque landscapes of North Adams for its second year. This unique race features both a half marathon and a 5K route, with stunning mountain vistas and sections along the serene Hoosic River providing scenic backdrops throughout.
Participants will enjoy passing by thought-provoking art installations at MASS MoCA as they traverse downtown North Adams. The event is part of ongoing efforts to revitalize the historic flood control system since 2010, aiming to enhance ecological health while ensuring effective protection against floods and creating new community spaces like river walks and better public access.
The half marathon starts promptly at 8am, followed by the first wave of the 5K runners at 8:15am. A one-mile walk will also be available immediately after both races conclude. To qualify for age division awards, participants must complete their respective distances within set time limits—4 hours for the half marathon and 1 hour for the 5K.
Post-race festivities from 10am to 1:30pm include live music, refreshments, and an award ceremony celebrating first place winners in various age categories. Early bib pickup is available on September 18th from 5-7pm at Building 1 next to Bright Ideas, while race day registration begins at the start line from 7-8am.
Race participants who register by August 19th will receive a commemorative t-shirt and finisher medal upon completion. Sizes XS–XXL are guaranteed for early registrants; additional shirts may be available on race day based on supply. A special $10 student discount is offered to those aged 13-22, with children under 12 running free in all categories.
