The fifth annual Hoof It on the Hill takes place on Saturday, 30 May 2026 at 2099 Ruttenbur Road, Cherry Creek, New York, within Boutwell Hill State Forest. This fundraising trail race for the Chautauqua County Equestrian Trail System (CCETS) offers four distances: 52k, 26k, 12k, and 6k. Registration closes on Tuesday, 26 May 2026 at 12:00 AM ET. No same day registrations are permitted.

Packet and swag pickup begins at 6:00 AM for all distances. The cutoff finish time for all distances is 7:00 PM. A generous cutoff time welcomes hikers in all distances. Awards will be presented to first-to-finish man and woman in each distance, given as you finish. All finishers receive an award.
All entrants registered before 13 May 2026 will receive swag (short-sleeved performance shirt) at check-in. Shirts are not guaranteed after this date, and no swag will be mailed. The event is Trail Sisters Approved.
Runners will traverse pine and hardwood forests, meadows, across creeks and streams, and up and down several steep hills. Expect to get wet and muddy. Terrain includes sections of forest road, single-track technical trail, double-track snowmobile trail, and some asphalt road for the 26k and 52k distances. The 52k consists of two loops of the 26k course.
Aid stations will have water, sports/electrolyte drink, and typical ultra food including peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, M&Ms, pretzels, pickles, cookies, fruit, chips, and more. Crews are allowed at the Start/Finish (Ruttenbur Aid Station for 52k) and at the Boutwell Hill Aid Station (26k and 52k only). Drop bags are allowed at Boutwell Hill Aid Station for 26k and 52k runners. No pacers are permitted.
No refunds, deferrals (other than pregnancy deferrals), credits, transfers, or waitlists are offered for any race distance. Should the race director need to cancel the race for any reason including severe weather, DEC permit changes, or a change in pandemic situation, all entries will be deferred to the following year. If a runner cancels or no-shows, the registration fee will be considered a donation to CCETS, Inc. If changes distance, the higher distance registration fee applies.
Pregnancy deferral: If you become pregnant after registering or have just had a baby and your body is not ready to race, the entry may be deferred to the following year. Please notify by 15 April 2026.
Hoof It on the Hill is a fundraising trail race for the Chautauqua County Equestrian Trail System, maintained by volunteers dedicated to the growth and management of multi-user horse trail systems in Chautauqua County, New York. The trails are also used by hikers, bikers, trail runners, birders, dog walkers, cross country skiers, snowmobilers, and more. Come support the CCETS and enjoy a challenging, muddy, and rewarding day on the trails of Boutwell Hill State Forest.
