Hibernal Hills: A Spectacular Season Opener
Ditcham Park School, nestled amidst the rolling hills of Hampshire, sets the stage for the Hibernal Hills Event. This inaugural race marks the beginning of the racing season and features three distinct distances—50 miles, 50 kilometers, and 20 miles—all on a single looped course that winds through some of England's most scenic terrain.
Runners will embark on an undulating journey along picturesque trails such as Staunton Way and Monarchs Way before ascending onto the South Downs Way. The route is peppered with challenging hills that test endurance, offering stunning vistas at every turn. Participants can expect to traverse a mix of woodland paths and open fields, immersing themselves in the natural beauty of the Hampshire countryside.
The 50-mile and 50K races hold special significance as they kick off the South Downs Triple Crown—a new challenge debuting in 2025 for ultra-distance runners. To earn this prestigious title, participants must complete three ultra distance events within a calendar year, starting with Hibernal Hills.
