Hawk Hundred

The Hawk Hundred returns to Clinton State Park Army Corp of Engineer - Shelter 1 - Overlook Park, Lawrence, Kansas on September 12th, offering ultra-distance runners the chance to tackle challenging trail courses through rolling hills and technical terrain.
Participants will gather at dawn for a day filled with rigorous competition. The park's shelter overlooks expansive trails that wind through thickets of trees and past serene bodies of water. Runners can expect firm yet slightly soft ground underfoot, ideal conditions for long-distance endurance runs. Early morning temperatures hover around 60°F to 75°F, with humidity levels moderate but not overwhelming.
Since its inception in the early days of trail running advocacy in Lawrence, Kansas, The Hawk Hundred has grown into a beloved community event supported by local organizations and runners alike. Each year sees an increase in participants looking to test their limits on these scenic trails. Race proceeds benefit scholarships for young athletes participating in regional track meets, fostering future generations of endurance sports enthusiasts.
The course at Clinton State Park is renowned among trail runners for its technical and varied terrain. Runners will traverse a 25-mile loop that challenges both strength and agility with steep ascents and descents as well as winding paths through dense woodland areas. The marathon distance begins on the Nature Center Trail before joining the main route, while the longer events start earlier in the morning to accommodate their lengthier durations.
Weather conditions during September are generally favorable for outdoor activities, featuring mild temperatures that range from 60°F to 75°F early in the day and warming slightly as noon approaches. Humidity levels remain moderate throughout, providing a comfortable but still challenging environment for runners of all distances.

Runners can choose between three demanding races: The Hawk Hundred's signature 100-mile event (featuring both runner and pacer categories), a grueling 50-mile option, or the marathon distance. All participants will receive chipped timing by Timer Guys with live updates available on race day.
Registration for all distances is open at https://ultrasignup.com/register.aspx?did=130306 until August 15th when early bird pricing ends; thereafter fees increase to $275, $175, and $125 respectively. Pre-race briefings along with packet pickup occur on the morning of September 12th at the start location.
On race day, drop bags should be delivered by participants fifteen minutes before their scheduled starting time. The marathon begins promptly at 8:00 AM followed closely by the half-day and full-day adventures for those embarking upon the longer courses.
