Embrace the spirit of aloha at the Hawaii Running Lab Val Nolasco Half Marathon, an unforgettable race that promises to deliver breathtaking scenery and a vibrant atmosphere. This year marks another exciting chapter for runners as we bid farewell to our longtime sponsor The Running Room while welcoming Hawaii Running Lab into the fold with open arms. The event is set against the stunning backdrop of Kapiolani Regional Park on Kalakaua Avenue, offering participants not only a scenic start but also easy access to Honolulu's iconic oceanfront. As you lace up your shoes and prepare for the challenge ahead, know that organizers are working tirelessly behind the scenes to enhance every aspect of the race experience. Key improvements include fully custom finisher shirts tailored just for this year’s runners, an increased number of porta potties at the start line ensuring comfort throughout the event, and a generous array of swag items designed to keep you smiling from start to finish. The half marathon route takes participants on a journey through some of Hawaii's most picturesque locations. Starting off in Kapiolani Regional Park, runners will head briefly towards Waikiki before making their way up Monsarrat Avenue and turning right onto Paki Street. The course then ascends over the majestic Diamond Head Crater, an iconic Hawaiian landmark that provides both a challenging climb and breathtaking views. After reaching Triangle Park at the base of Diamond Head, participants take a left turn to follow the marathon route along Diamond Head Road before making another right on 18th Avenue. From there, runners continue onto Kilauea Avenue until they reach Kalanianaole Highway, where they head out towards Wailupe Circle and back again via Kealaolu Street. As you near the finish line, a left turn onto Kahala Avenue will guide you back to Kapiolani Regional Park, ending at the famous Honolulu Marathon finish line. The 5K race follows a similar but shorter route, allowing all participants to enjoy key highlights of this scenic course within their own pace and time constraints. Packet pickup is available on Friday, November 6th from noon until 6 PM or Saturday, November 7th from noon until 5 PM at Hybrid Design located in Kaka'ako. Awards will be given out for overall male and female winners of both the half marathon and 5K races, as well as age group prizes for top finishers across various categories. Every participant who crosses the line is guaranteed a commemorative medal to celebrate their achievement. Parking around Kapiolani Regional Park is plentiful; just keep an eye out for any signs indicating restricted areas during race day. Join us at this year’s Hawaii Running Lab Val Nolasco Half Marathon and experience not only the beauty of Oahu but also the warmth and hospitality that defines Hawaiian running culture. See you there!
