HaRUNbee 5K Walk/Run for Healthy Birth Outcomes

The HaRUNbee 5K Walk/Run for Healthy Birth Outcomes returns to Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Saturday, August 1st, 2026. This annual event in the heart of Harambee Park aims to promote wellness and awareness around healthy birth outcomes. The race starts at 9 AM sharp, winding its way through the vibrant neighborhoods known for their rich cultural heritage.
Harambee Park itself is a community gem—its lush green spaces are lined with towering trees that provide welcome shade on warm summer days. On race day, expect the air to be crisp and filled with the sounds of local music playing in nearby venues. The atmosphere is electric as families and friends gather to support each other’s health journeys through every step.
Since its inception a decade ago, HaRUNbee has grown from 300 participants to over 1500, making it one of Milwaukee's most beloved community events. Organized by the National Coalition for Healthy Black Families (NCHBF), this race not only raises funds but also serves as a powerful reminder that staying healthy and fit is essential for every family.
The course itself begins at the corner of W North Ave and E Lincoln St, passing through the historic streets of Harambee before looping back to the finish line. It's a flat 5K run or walk with minimal elevation changes—perfectly suited for both seasoned runners and casual walkers. Notable features include the winding paths around the park’s central fountain and a brief detour past the community garden, where you can catch glimpses of local flora thriving in the urban environment.
Expect temperatures to hover around 22°C but feeling slightly cooler due to humidity levels at about 72%. The light will be golden as midday passes, casting long shadows over the park. A gentle breeze is expected from the northwest, keeping things comfortable for all participants. Rain is unlikely given historical patterns, but always bring a jacket just in case.
