Evanston’s lakefront path is flat and well-maintained, with sections that can be run either alongside or directly upon the shared paved route. Runners will encounter stretches of crushed gravel but also have options to stay on firmer grassy areas if preferred. The weather in early September typically ranges from mild temperatures around 19.8°C (67°F) and lower humidity levels, providing a comfortable environment for endurance runners.
This event has grown significantly since its inception, now attracting over three hundred participants annually who aim to test their limits across various distances. Bib pickup takes place at the start location on race day from 7 AM to noon for early arrivals and between 4 PM and 9 PM the evening before.

Age requirements stipulate that runners must be over eighteen years old to participate without parental consent; minors are welcome with guardian accompaniment.
