Escape to the heart of the Maniototo plains and test your ultimate endurance at the Great Naseby Water Race, New Zealand's longest ultramarathon held from 26-30 August 2026. This iconic multi-day festival of running challenges you to conquer the serene but demanding trails of the Naseby Forest across seven distances, from a 50km introduction to the monumental 200-mile flagship event starting on August 26th. Each lapped course weaves through stunning high-country pine forest and historic gold mining landscapes, offering a unique blend of runnable terrain, crisp alpine air, and a deeply supportive community atmosphere. Renowned for its impeccable organization and the pristine "water race" aqueducts that line the route, it provides a perfect stage for first-time ultra runners and seasoned veterans to push their limits. Choose your solo challenge or team up for the relay, and prepare for a pure, life-affirming running adventure in the South Island's vast, beautiful wilderness.
