This event, presented by Altra and held in partnership with Fleet Feet Sacramento, features stunning views of Folsom Lake and heritage oak trees adorned with autumn foliage. Runners can expect challenging terrain that includes steep uphill dirt trails and sandy beach sections.
On race morning at Granite Beach on Douglas Boulevard near the end of the road, participants will find a mix of granite rock gardens and wooded areas providing both shade and picturesque scenery. Participants can look forward to receiving race swag such as gender-specific tech shirts, custom finisher medals, complimentary post-race fajitas, non-alcoholic beverages, and a beer after completing their course.
The Granite Head Trails & Ales takes place on the trails surrounding Folsom Lake, with routes that wind through granite rock gardens and sandy beach areas. The terrain is varied, featuring steep uphill sections of dirt trail alongside stretches near water’s edge offering cool breezes off Folsom Lake. Elevation changes are significant throughout both courses.
Race day weather typically includes mild temperatures ranging from 12 to 25 degrees Celsius with an average feel of around 18 degrees due to moderate winds and humidity levels averaging at about 59%. The trail conditions remain firm yet slightly soft underfoot, suitable for a variety of running shoes. Precipitation is low but not unheard of; runners should prepare accordingly.
