Immerse yourself in the breathtaking beauty of the Grand Olde Route of York on September 19, 2027. This trail running adventure offers runners two fantastic options: a Half Marathon (21k) or a 10k race through some of Yorkshire's most stunning natural landscapes.
Begin your journey at Escrick Estate, where towering Redwood trees create an enchanting canopy above wide gravel tracks and firm trails. The flat profile allows you to find your rhythm as you glide across the expansive woodland paths, making it perfect for both speed enthusiasts and scenic explorers alike.
As the route transitions into Skipwith Common National Nature Reserve, runners are treated to a unique blend of heathland and ancient woodland teeming with wildlife. Keep an eye out for grazing Longhorn cattle, deer, and other local fauna that call this conservation area home. The landscape itself is steeped in history, featuring remnants from the Second World War era when Skipwith Common was used as an RAF airfield.
Whether you're aiming to set a personal best or simply enjoy the serene beauty of Yorkshire's natural wonders, the Grand Olde Route offers a memorable trail running experience that combines stunning scenery with challenging yet runnable terrain.
