About the Event

Step into the heart of Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains at Explore Park, where the Go Nuts Biking XC Race is set to take place from October 17-18, 2026. As part of the Roanoke GO Fest (Go Outside Festival), this cross-country mountain bike race promises an adrenaline-fueled experience through some of Virginia’s premier trails.
Saturday, October 17, will be dedicated to pre-race preparation with open access to Explore Park's extensive trail network. This day is perfect for riders to practice their lines and familiarize themselves with the course while enjoying the festival atmosphere. The rolling terrain offers a mix of fast singletrack and technical sections, making it an ideal setting for both seasoned racers and newcomers.
Race Day, Sunday, October 18, will bring multiple categories catering to all skill levels—beginners, juniors, sport riders, and experts alike. The challenging yet enjoyable XC course stretches over more than 14 miles of dedicated mountain bike trails, winding through beautiful deciduous forests. With its combination of scenic woodland riding, rolling hills, and technical features, the race is sure to provide a memorable experience.
The stunning location off the Blue Ridge Parkway adds to the adventure park vibe, offering river access and breathtaking views. The event will also be integrated into the broader GO Fest celebration, featuring live music, vendors, outdoor activities, and a vibrant community turnout.

For those aiming to rack up points in Go Nuts Biking Series races, completing at least five out of the Fall series will qualify you for overall ranking. The best performances from these five races will determine your standing.
Registration is available online only with a regular price of $50 per participant. Add an extra $10 for PRO/CAT 1 riders to secure their spot in the payout categories. A late fee of $10 applies during the week leading up to the race, and t-shirts are included if registered by a specific cut-off date (10 days before the event).
Start times will be staggered starting at 9:30 am for EMTB riders, followed by PRO/CAT 1 at 10 am. Categories such as CAT 2/Single Speed, CAT 3, Women's Novice, and Clydesdale/Sasquatch will follow suit with their respective start times.
The race course length varies from 4.5 to 7 miles, depending on the difficulty level. Riders must adhere strictly to outlined rules, including wearing appropriate protective gear such as helmets and following proper trail etiquette during both course recon and transfer stages.
In case of severe weather conditions, races will proceed with safety being prioritized over schedule adjustments. Racers are advised to stay informed via official communications channels for any potential changes in the event order or duration due to adverse weather.
