Name: Fujipan Presents Yodogawa Kanpei Marathon 2026 - Supporting Areas Hit by the Great East Japan Earthquake (フジパンPresents 淀川寛平マラソン2026 ～東日本大震災被災地支援～)
Start: 2026-11-28
End: 2026-11-28
Location: Hirakata

About the Event

Launched in 2013 to mark the 100th anniversary of Yoshimoto Kogyo and the 80th of the Sankei Shimbun, this event reaches its 14th edition in 2026 and is spread over two days along the Yodogawa river in Hirakata. The Hirakata riverside park serves as the main venue, with a temporary course set up on the left bank. Saturday features the 3 km elementary school race, a stroller walk of about 1.5 km, a 5 km pair run, an 8 km walk and a roughly 2 km Heartful Run for people with disabilities. Sunday brings the half marathon, 10 km and a five-leg ekiden of about 17 km, with teams of five runners plus one substitute, and a new women's category this year. Pair times are now recorded, and every elementary school runner is timed. In all, 8 events and 16 divisions are planned for 9,000 participants. The race follows the spirit of comedian Kanpei Hazama, who completed his 766-day, 41,040 km Earth Marathon in 2011 and later toured the quake-hit coast on a 460 km run. From each entry fee, 100 yen is donated to the Sankei Shimbun welfare organization for disaster relief.
