Welcome to the 1st Annual Frightening 4 mile trail run/hike!
York River State Park is the perfect location for a Halloween themed race. Happy Cat has several races that use the trails in the park, but this is a new trail, never before used by an event. The race distance will be 4 miles and both runners and hikers are welcome. The time limit is 2 hours. Are you a speedster? Run 2 laps or walk one, run one!
The trails are dirt with rolling hills. There are some roots and twists (and ghouls?) to keep it interesting. Part of the course follows along the York River, so there are beautiful water views! 3 out of the 4 miles are narrow single-track, about a mile is a wider gravel trail.
The format is non competitive, but there will be finisher medals for all finishers. There will be official times posted but no overall or age group awards. Wear a costume and receive a race logo temporary tattoo!
Parking is included and post race refreshments will be available. A race T-shirt is not inlcuded and needs to be added on when registering if you want one!
The parking area is very close to the start/finish line. Indoor restrooms are also close by the parking area. No aid stations will be on the course, so plan to bring water if you think you will need it. Leashed dogs are allowed but keep in mind that the trails are narrow and mainly single file. If you plan to finish over 1.5 hours or it is cloudy, please consider bringing personal illumination.

Learn more about the host city, Williamsburg.
Williamsburg is a city in southeast Virginia. Settled in 1632, it was the capital of Virginia from 1699 to 1779 and in 1926, John D. Rockefeller Jr commissioned a restoration project to bring Williamsburg back to its former colonial glory. During this period, 700 modern homes were demolished, colonial buildings were renovated, and more than 400 buildings were reconstructed on their original foundations. Today, the Colonial Williamsburg district in the center of town is a popular tourist center and people visit in droves to immerse themselves in the nation's colonial history.
