About the Event

A "BUCKET-LIST", BUCKLE RACE

The air is crisp, the leaves are turning, and the trails whisper with every rustle of wind. For 30 haunting hours, you’ll run beneath a canopy of gold and crimson, chasing miles through twisting paths where daylight fades quickly and the night comes alive. Welcome to the heart of New England trail running. The 30 Hour/100 mile EPIC event kicks off on Saturday at 8:30 am and runs until Sunday at 2:30 pm, giving you 30 hours to complete as many miles as you desire. Whether you choose to run, power-hike, walk or crawl, this challenge is for you. And this is the perfect race to prepare for any other 100 miler! FYI: Update 2027: Centurion Daze: Hail, 100 mie "Buckle" Runners of the Centurion and the Forbidden! FYI: the Centurion Daze will be happening for on June 24, 25, 26, 27 in 2027, starting at Noon on the 24th till Noon on the 27th or 72 Hours (3 Days). This Centurion Daze 3 Day Ultra Trail Race will be in celebration of 10+ years of running the roosevelforestultras. It will be by "invitation only" and limited to 50 Runners/Hikers. Initial invitations will go to anyone who has "buckled" at the Centurion or the Forbidden over these past years. A limited amout of Guess invitiaions will also be allocated by the Race Director. If you have "Buckled" and are interest in being one of the first 25 to register (invited), please email the Race Director at [email protected] and give the date of the 100 mile achievement. Please review the info that follows for the Centurion 33 hour for a review, understanding the course of the Centurion maybe modified. There will be a 100 mie 33 hour buckle, a 150 mile buckle and a 200 mile buckle, hopefully. More information to come as we move forward.

Distance and Format:

Choose your own challenge: 26.2M | 50K | 50M | 100K | 100 Miles | Or more ! The new modified loop is 2.5 miles per loop featureimg roots, rocky terrain, and one larger hill (“OMG”). Complete 40 loops in 30 hours to earn a stunning finisher buckle (no extra charge). Race winners: First through third place finishers in both male and female categories are awarded based on most miles completed in 30 hours (not just 100 miles). Note: As you achieve 100 miles you receive your buckle at that point, but that does not win the race, the fastest most miles does. The medallions, buckles and swag and awards are exceptional and worth the trip.

Event Schedule

Roosevelt Forest, located at the GPS address of 700 Peters Lane, Stratford, CT, will host the Forbidden Forest Ultra event. You can set up your personal area, namely : Canopy, chair(s) table, etc. if you wish on Friday October 1st; however, please note that the race is not responsible for theft or damage. Per Town Ordinance, no overnight camping is allowed on Friday night, however one may wish to Volunteer to stay the night as a security guard (email RD for permissions). On Saturday, October 3rd you can set up a personal area in the R&R lot across from the pavilion starting at 6:30 am. The Bib/Swag pickup will begin on Saturday the 3rd in the pavilion at 7 am, with the race starting at 8:30 am. Since the parking lot is small, please park 'comfortably' close, and larger vehicles should be directed to the side lot (no RVs). Use your vehicle for easy access to porta-johns, as you loop through the day and night. We will provide excellent ultra hydration and foods, including PB&J or Honey sliders and sandwiches around 1 pm, and a variety of pizzas (pickle?), along with potatoes and another surprise around 5 pm. Breakfast sandwiches will be available on Sunday around 8:30 am, sponsored by Athletic Brewing Company! The pavilion will serve as the only aid station during the trail race.

Swag and Fuel:

Excellent ultra hydration and food options are provided for runners throughout the entire race. While we do our best to accommodate all diets, please bring your own fueling options if you have specific needs. The one and only aid station is located at the pavilion (start/end point of each loop) so runners reach it every 2.5 miles Lots of exciting swag is included in your race entry, including non-alcoholic beer from our sponsor Athletic Brewing. Additional swag is available for purchase at the race. Race t-shirts are available for purchase when registering, and a limited quantity will be available for purchase on race day (sizes not guaranteed).

Registration:

This Ultra is limited to 50 Participants, meaning you are not one of 200 to 400 participants, so this is “your personal race for your personal best”. To maintain the competitive integrity of the event, registration is final. Please understand that there are absolutely no refunds, bib transfers or race deferrals for any reason. CDC/State/Town requirements are strictly applied. You must be at least 18 years old or have a Parental/Guardian signed waiver. Entry fees collected are used to develop and produce the event, starting well in advance of the race date--including course preparation, race supplies, permits, and administration. Additionally, diversified charities receive some support from each of the Roosevelt Forest Ultras.

Crew & Pacers:

Pacer info: At a cost of $50 for 12 hours (start time 2:30 am, Sunday or when 60 miles achieved); $25 for 6 Hours (8:30 am to race-end 2:30 pm). One Pacer only:Multiple pacer runners can change off, however only ONE Pacer at a time (one charge fits all). They must register and sign the waiver Registered pacers have access to hydration, food and some swag.. Pay at pavilion in hours just before 12 hours (Sunday 2:30 am or (60 miles? before 2:30am) or 6 hours (8:30am Sunday) knowing that the goal is within reach; no refunds. Pacers must check-in for a Pacer Bib at the pavilion Anyone using an unauthorized Pacer WILL BE DISQUALIFIED from the race!
