The Folsom Lake Trail Run is a premier regional endurance event scheduled for Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Folsom Point State Park in Folsom, California. For the 2026 edition, the race returns to its original course following the successful reopening of Dike 8, which connects Folsom Point to the Browns Ravine trail system. The event is known for its high-energy atmosphere and comprehensive support, catering to a maximum capacity of 500 runners across four distinct distances.

The geography of the course utilizes the southern and eastern shores of Folsom Lake, a reservoir fed by the American River. Runners traverse an out-and-back route that winds through lakeside oak woodlands and over embankments, passing notable landmarks such as Browns Marina, Falcon Crest, and Salmon Falls. The terrain features rolling single-track trails with frequent views of the 75-mile shoreline. In early May, the Folsom area typically experiences bright, spring conditions with average highs of 24°C (75°F). While the lake provides a cooling influence, much of the trail is exposed to the sun, prompting organizers to recommend that all participants carry at least 20oz of fluid between aid stations.
Logistically, the event is managed by Inside Trail Racing (ITR) and features a detailed awards structure, including custom trophies for top finishers and age-group medals that include a non-binary category. A "Dead Last Finisher" (DLF) award is also presented to celebrate persistence. Aid stations are strategically placed every 4 to 6 miles and are stocked with a wide array of nutrition, including Skratch Hydration, Gu Energy products, and traditional ultra-running fare like PB&J and boiled potatoes. Early bib pickup is available on Friday, May 1, at Fleet Feet Folsom to streamline the race morning experience. The course record for the 50K distance remains a target for competitive entrants, currently held by Chris Vizcaino with a 2015 time of 3:30:58.
