Finish Line Frolic

Join us on July 25, 2027, for an unforgettable running experience at the Finish Line Frolic! This unique charity event is organized by the Finish Line Fund to support local sporting initiatives and promote health and well-being across East Essex.
The Finish Line Fund was founded in memory of Nick Palmer from Flyers Southend Running Group after his tragic passing during a half marathon. Since becoming a registered charity in 2018, they have been dedicated to fostering amateur sports participation and providing essential equipment and sponsorship to local clubs.
At the Frolic, participants will enjoy a traffic-free looped course situated within Belchamps Park. The scenic route offers runners multiple laps over a distance of approximately 5 kilometers each lap. You can opt for as many or as few laps as you wish during the event's six-hour window. Completing four laps equates to a half marathon, while eight laps will cover full marathon distance.
Aid stations are conveniently located at the end of every loop, ensuring runners have easy access to hydration and snacks without carrying their own supplies throughout the course. Here, participants can leave personal items like energy gels or electrolytes in designated spots for quick retrieval during each lap. The aid station offers flapjacks, fruit, nuts, water, squash, and other refreshments.
To minimize waste on race day, this year’s Frolic is a cupless event—participants are encouraged to bring their own reusable containers for drinks provided at the stations. You can purchase Hydrapak Speedcups as part of your registration or buy them directly from organizers if you need one.
The course itself features flat terrain and offers runners an opportunity to test their endurance on fast, lapped trails while enjoying scenic views around Belchamps Park. The event is perfect for all skill levels, with a unique bespoke medal awarded upon completion.
Ample parking facilities are available at the venue, but please note that your GPS might direct you up Mount Bovers Lane, which is unsuitable for motor vehicles and private property. Instead, follow signs from Main Road into Poplars Avenue and turn left onto Woodside Chase before heading right on Holyoak Lane to reach Belchamps Park.
Toilets are situated within the park grounds for your convenience during the event. We kindly remind all participants to respect the environment by disposing of any waste responsibly in provided bins at aid stations or elsewhere around the course.
