Canicross Aberdeenshire invites you to join us on October 31, 2026, at Fetternear Estate for an exhilarating day of racing through scenic forest trails. Nestled near Inverurie, the estate offers a picturesque backdrop for both canicross and bikejor enthusiasts. ### Race Courses - Canicross Long Course: Approximately 5km on natural walking paths with twists, turns, and undulations that challenge racers while keeping them entertained. - Canicross Short Course (3km): A shorter version of the long course for those looking to enjoy a more manageable distance. - Bikejor: An exciting addition this year featuring one dog pulling you through the forest trails. The route is approximately 5km, with similar terrain and challenges as the canicross courses. ### Registration Details Registration opens at Netherton Business Centre from 07:00 to 09:00 on race day. Bikejor participants should complete registration by 08:30 for safety reasons. A marshals briefing will take place at 07:30, followed by the start of bikejor races at 09:00 and canicross races beginning at 10:30. ### Event Schedule - Bikejor Start: 09:00 AM - 5km Canicross Race Start: 10:30 AM - Fun Run (Short Course, 3km): 12:00 PM Participants will be notified of their start times based on seeded starts to minimize overtaking and ensure safety. Marshals are stationed throughout the course to provide guidance. ### Entry Fees - Bikejor: £18 - Canicross (5km): £18 - Fun Run (3km): £12 Camping is available for an additional fee of £10, with parking donations encouraged at a marked field provided by the Pony Club. ### Rules and Regulations All dogs must be 18 months or older on race day, and no in-season bitches are permitted to participate due to health concerns. Dogs should remain on leashes throughout the event for safety reasons. Canicross equipment includes suitable harnesses and a line with a bungee section attached to a belt worn by the human runner. Bikejor racers must ensure their bikes have working brakes, helmets are mandatory, and dogs wear appropriate pulling harnesses connected via a 2-3 meter bungee line. ### Course Features The courses wind through natural paths with undulations that provide an engaging challenge for both humans and dogs. A short downhill section on the long course requires caution due to its steepness and sharp turns marked by orange fencing. The finish area offers drinking water for dogs, but participants are encouraged to bring their own bowls. ### Results & Prize Giving Results will be announced promptly after the final race concludes at 14:00 PM with prizes awarded in various categories including first through third place winners. Special awards this year include "Scariest Team" and "Cutest Costume." Join us for a day of fun, competition, and camaraderie in one of Scotland’s most beautiful settings!
