Whether you are aiming for a full marathon distance or a shorter team challenge, the Ekiden offers a unique opportunity to bond with friends, colleagues, or club mates while racing past the city’s most legendary landmarks, including the iconic Geoffroy-Guichard Stadium.

The 2026 edition features two distinct relay formats designed to suit all endurance levels. The flagship Marathon Relay requires a team of six to conquer the classic 42.195 km distance, while the 20 km Relay is perfect for trios looking for a fast-paced shared effort. Both races take place on a dynamic 5 km urban loop, ensuring a constant buzz of supporters and frequent hand-offs. To foster a spirit of friendly competition, the event hosts specialized challenges for schools, businesses, and local associations, alongside free children’s races led by Coquelicot 42 coaches for the youngest athletes aged 4 to 9.

Beyond the stopwatch, the Ekiden Saint-Étienne is a race with a heart. This year, €1 from every participant's registration will be donated to the association "Bouge ta FLEM," turning every stride into a gesture of solidarity.
