The East Texas Ultra is a scenic trail running and rucking event held at the Mineola Nature Preserve, moving to this new venue for the 2026 edition. Scheduled for Saturday, May 9, 2026, the race features a course that winds through shady tall pine trees and the piney trails of Mineola. Organized by Texas Outlaw Running, this event is part of the Texas Ultra Series, where finisher medals from across the series combine to form the shape of the State of Texas.
Race Categories and ScheduleThe event consists of a 7.1-kilometer loop system. Participants in longer distances complete multiple rotations of the same scenic circuit. A 9-hour total cutoff is enforced for all participants, ending at 4:00 PM.

The Mineola Nature Preserve is situated in the Post Oak Savannah ecoregion of East Texas, bordering the Sabine River. The terrain is characterized by sandy loam soils and a mix of wetlands and upland pine-hardwood forests. The trails are generally considered beginner-friendly with rolling changes in elevation rather than steep climbs. In early May, Mineola typically experiences warm and humid spring weather, with average afternoon highs of 27°C and morning lows of 15°C. Runners should prepare for shaded sections under the pine canopy but stay mindful of humidity levels. This is a strictly cupless race, meaning participants must carry their own bottles or hydration vests to use the provided refill stations.
Logistics and AwardsRegistration remains open until the night before the race (May 8, 2026), though early bird pricing ends in February. All finishers receive a collectible medal, and Ruck participants receive a specific "East Texas Ultra Ruck" patch. For the 50K distance, the top seven male and female finishers qualify for the Big Texas Ultra 100K Championship, which offers cash prizes. The event also features a "DFL" (Dead Freakin' Last) award for the final 50K finisher to celebrate perseverance. Aid stations are fully supported with food and hydration, and professional photography is included in the race experience. Bib pickup is available on-site at the preserve from 6:00 AM to 7:30 AM on race day.
