The DT Stone Anvil 2026 is a series of extreme trail ultra-marathons taking place from April 14 to April 19, 2026, within Fort Mountain State Park near Chatsworth, Georgia. Known for its "lite, hard, and brutal" climbs, the event features a signature 20-mile loop through the Cohutta Mountains, including the notorious Power Line Climb—a one-mile stretch gaining 1,000 feet of elevation. The 2026 edition has discontinued the 6-hour and 12-hour timed events to focus energy on the longer distances, while introducing an informal 4-hour Powerline hill challenge on Wednesday for participants and supporters.
| Race Distance | Start Time | Course Details |
|---|---|---|
| 200 Miler | Wed, April 15 @ 7:00 AM | 10 loops; ~50,000 ft elevation gain |
| 72-Hour Timed | Thu, April 16 @ 12:00 PM | As many loops as possible in 72 hours |
| 100 Miler | Fri, April 17 @ 12:00 PM | 5 loops; ~25,000 ft elevation gain |
| 100K / 50K | Sat, April 18 @ 6:00/7:00 AM | 3 loops (100K) or 1.5 loops (50K) |
Chatsworth is the county seat of Murray County, Georgia, with a population of approximately 4,900 residents. Known as the "Gateway to the Appalachians," the area is famous for its history of talc mining and its proximity to the Cohutta Wilderness. The local demographic is largely working-class, with a median annual household income of roughly $43,000. Geographically, the race takes place on the summit and slopes of Fort Mountain, which reaches an elevation of 2,850 feet. The trails range from wide, rolling double-track to highly technical single-track on the Gahuti trail. The climate in mid-April in North Georgia is notoriously fickle; average temperatures on April 14th range from a low of 7°C (45°F) to a high of 21°C (70°F), though sudden heavy rains can quickly turn the mountain trails into thick mud.
Special provisions are made for "Oscar Foxtrot" runners (those over 55), who may qualify for earlier start times and extended cutoffs in distances exceeding 100 miles. Registration for the 2026 event closes on Friday, April 10, at 11:59 PM ET. The race serves as a qualifying event for the Pinhoti Slam, requiring the completion of 100 miles in under 48 hours. Aid is abundant due to the technical difficulty, with primary crew-accessible stations at Lakeside, Cool Springs Overlook, and the Park Entrance. For those attempting the 200-mile distance, finishers will earn a custom buckle for conquering one of the most elevation-heavy courses in the Eastern United States.
