The Double Chubb (part of the Chubb Trail Races) is scheduled for Saturday, March 28, 2026, at West Tyson County Park in Eureka, MO. Organized by the Saint Louis Ultrarunners Group (SLUG), this event is a staple for the Midwest trail running community, offering challenging terrain that appeals to both "newbies" and expert-level ultrarunners. New for 2026 is the 25K Ruck event, adding a heavy-pack endurance challenge to the traditional lineup of distances.
| Race Category | Distance | Start Time | Key Requirements |
|---|---|---|---|
| 50K Ultra | 50 km | 8:00 AM | 4-hour first loop cutoff |
| 25K Trail Run | 25 km | 8:00 AM | Standard trail gear |
| 25K RUCK | 25 km | 8:00 AM | 20lb min. pack weight |
| 8-Miler | 8 miles | 8:00 AM | Great for beginners |
Participation and Logistics
The race is cup-free, meaning all participants must carry their own water bottles or hydration packs to refill at aid stations (located roughly every 3.5 to 4.5 miles). The course is supported by seven aid stations stocked with "ultra food" like bananas, pretzels, and electrolytes. Packet pickup is held Friday, March 27, at Fleet Feet Des Peres (4:00 PM – 6:30 PM) or on race morning at the park entrance starting at 7:00 AM. This year’s race swag is a unique waterproof outdoor cloak blanket/cape, available in four colors.
Registration and Policies
Registration officially closes on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at 10:00 PM CT. SLUG members receive a $10 discount on their entry fee. While there are no refunds or deferrals, bib transfers are permitted until March 21 via the UltraSignup platform. The event maintains a "relaxed" 9-hour overall cutoff for all distances. Proceeds beyond race costs are donated back to local trail maintenance and St. Louis area organizations. The park is easily accessed via I-44 at the Lewis Road exit, with the start line situated near the main entry gate.

Learn more about the host city, Eureka.
Eureka is a city in Humboldt County, California. With a population of slightly over 25,000, it is the largest coastal city on the West Coast of the United States north of San Francisco and south of Portland and the center of the California North Coast. Eureka is Ancient Greek for "I have found it," and the city got its name as a hopeful statement made by miners during the California Gold Rush, but it was the timber industry that gave the town its early wealth. Now, with logging in decline, it retains the charm of that era with older Victorian buildings and the feel of an old-fashioned working town.
